We are standing on the threshold of an exciting and unique journey; a journey to within yourself.
During this journey, we will ask challenging questions, we will look for answers together, and we will try to understand topics that have always been important for us to clarify.
What is Jewish identity? Who are the Jewish people? What is the place of the individual within the whole? How can I succeed and progress? How can I contribute to the world in general, and to the Jewish people in particular?
In our journey, we will discuss the Torah and writings of the wise men of Israel with an emphasis on the glorious tradition of the Sages of Spain. We will discuss, argue, clarify and enlarge our shared tool boxes.
Fasten your seatbelts. We are taking off!
Each one of our journeys is based on our personal story.
Take a few minutes – less than 5! – to tell your life story. Where did you grow up? What influenced you? And What is important to you in life?
Don’t limit yourselves to your age and occupation J. Talk about the things that are important to you and what you feel defines you.
Now comes the challenging part…
You’ve hear the story of your journey’s partner. Repeat it!
Share how you understood the story, what the salient messages were for you and what were the significant parts that, in your opinion, particularly characterize their life story?
This is the account of the descendants of Adam on the day that He created Man, He made Him in the likeness of G-d (Breishit 5:1)
And in my opinion this hints at the entire Torah, because the entire Torah is the account of the history of man. (Ramban)
The Torah of Israel is the guidebook of humanity. The words ‘the account of the descendants of Adam’ teach us that each one of us has a personal story and each one of us writes an additional chapter in our personal history, but also within the history of humanity as a whole. How do we want our chapter to look? What should we do in order to write it effectively?
